Best Review: ‘Doctor Strange: Into the Multiverse of Madness’ is the fifth KVM Phase 4 film after ‘Infinity Saga’ and the sequel to the 2016 film ‘Doctor Strange’.
Very, very mixed feelings and feelings grip me as a viewer about what has become of the movie universe and where it’s going… It seems premature to pass judgment on the word ‘rolling’ yet, but it’s a maze or a maze…
As for the particular series of this film series, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ has raised the bar so high, that, of course, now you have to reach it… And in this respect, the second ‘Strange’ looks on the one hand, a workhorse, on the other – a lame workhorse.
Maybe the critics are right to call the problem of this film an overly sprawling universe. But it looks like an incompletely formed thought. What the academics had to say was this… When ‘Infinity Saga’ was on, it wasn’t necessary for the viewer to know all the previous issues and read the comics by ripping a movie out of the lineup. Every movie in the universe was self-contained and enjoyable! I too, by the way, there was a time I watched the third ‘Iron Man’ before watching the second ‘Thor’ – and nothing! And understood everything!!! Now you have to stock up on your knowledge base before watching every next episode from Kevin Feigy. And, besides – remembering what it was, how this and that ended a few years ago…! I’m sorry, what??? What do I need these quests for?! I’m a grown man, I have a family, I watch movies to have fun, not to prepare as if for exams…
By the way, thank goodness I forgot not only the first Strange (which seemed to have more of a connection), but also the Wanda/Vision mini-series, in which (I learned it from the extras) the connection was broken! (Maybe the writers forgot too?)… That’s what I’m talking about!
Okay. What’s the second Strange about? What’s it all about?!
The movie begins with America Chavez, the new heroine of the big story, along with a version of Dr. Strange trying to sneak through pieces of computer graphics to the Book, which contains all the spells with which to deal with any force in the universe. The path is blocked by a demon. And America knows how to open spaces into any universe. But how he does it – he doesn’t know! And Strange doesn’t know how to do it. But he knows that if he had it, he’d have no trouble with it. Of course, the only way out is to take the girl’s power. But she would die! But Strange is a determined guy!
Interesting fact: The octopus attacker, thanks to modern computer technology, has an eye that is an exact replica of Elizabeth Olsen’s. Knowing this ahead of time, the viewer will be able to put two and two together and determine that herein lies the Scarlet Witch’s mark!..! But I didn’t know that. However, we soon learn of Wanda’s involvement in this story. And so Wanda aka The Scarlet Witch is what is towing this movie!!! Oh, she’s such a drag, it’s not essentially a Strange movie, it’s about Wanda!!!
Elizabeth Olsen is so good, this is rightfully her benefit!!! She has played a spectrum of emotions here that a person in a lifetime wouldn’t necessarily experience. Playing both the Wanda who loves her children and the crazy witch for whom children from another universe have become an obsession is worth a lot!..!
Speaking of universes… What do you say? Multiverse? You’ve only shown us three universes here. Everything else here is limited to flashes of Strange and America whizzing through space. It’s a slick and lazy move. Don’t you think? Among others, they even just showed a cartoon and then a blur of paint… Awesome! (no).
Not without the obligatory inclusiveness. America is representative of ‘those very’, plus her parents are mothers… (facepalm)… Here… If they showed, for example, normal parents – what would change…?
No matter how hard the creators tried (and they did!), the picture looks like a passing filler. Wanda/Witch brings the film to life, but… alas, the movie isn’t about her. Whatever the helmsmen did (I don’t mean Sam Raimi, no questions for him)… They tried to make friends with comic book characters from other franchises (by the way, organically, – credit!), and stuck on the Easter eggs… It’s still a filler.
И… I mentioned the allegory with the working horse, but the limping horse… Well, if it keeps going like this, that horse should be shot so it doesn’t suffer…
