Best Review:

Two friends get into a joint squabble and it’s all because Colm Doherty is tired of talking to Podrick Sullivan.

Actors: for the first time since 2008, I have a very good reputation and respect (and also love) for the Gleason+ Farrell couple, because otherwise it will take a long time to prove why they are like that. Simply put, the perfect tandem!!! I’m not kidding, even Sam Rockwell or Christopher Lloyd (Pharrell’s teammates on ‘7 psychopaths’) do not seem to be related people to Pharrell, as if Gleason was Colin’s real uncle (for example, as Coppola has a nephew Cage). Both to each other, like native people playing in the same movie. Can you imagine that this next McDonnell tape dragged on for several years of friendship between the on-screen Colm (Gleason) and Podrick (Farrell). Now it is clear where this discontent of the inhabitants of one island, or rather one stubborn person, comes from. So, I’ll start.

The film can pretty much rattle the nerves, as well as the mass entertainer Gleason himself (or, more precisely, his hero). Not to say that he is sane (but this is Ireland of the 40s, guys!) a character, especially during self-flagellation. However, if you don’t want to talk, then write on a piece of paper and give it to a person with whom you have been friends for a long time. Or talk and slam the door, and finally throw the phrase: ‘The time has come.’ Silence is golden, but sometimes it’s important to listen to the end. Especially because of the harsh atmosphere that reigned around the hero

Everything else: The likes of Podrick and Dominic (Barry Keoghan) are troublemakers because they are used to socializing. They do not want to change the local environment and the comfort of home, which they know by heart, for the sake of an unknown future.

A sane hero (with an unhealthy idea of self-torture) is Colm, who, between playing music on the violin or sitting on a chair, wants to change something finally. He knows that time is lost and there is less of it every day. That’s why I want this hero to speak out once in front of Podrick. But, Colm does not climb first in the conversation unnecessarily.

There is someone else who is trying to change life. The hero’s sister (Kerry Condon) did not think before that between conversations with the corrosive Mrs. McCormick (Sheila Flitton), it is possible to correct the loneliness that weighs heavily on her. And the attempts and attention that Dominic showed were not the prank of a village boy. The hero also tried to change his life, which would have a future. But I did it without much difficulty. Apparently, his father’s company and his baton (not the one between his legs) affected his head.

McDonnell certainly talks about the passions that are boiling on the Inisherin, where every bush has ears and everyone knows each other. I thought that the tape would be very different from the picture with Gothic structures (‘See the Gothic swans all this fabulous bullshit © ). To tell the truth, I didn’t expect this kind of movie, especially in such a quiet environment. But if you think about it, then the town on the border of Ebbing, Missouri was not sugar, but quite an exciting detective story. What do I mean? It seemed that there could be such a thing in the plot on a lonely Irish island? It’s just that this film makes it clear that young people have their carefree time, but they ‘still’, even if they work, waste it. When you turn 70, you think that you missed a lot of chances. Gleason’s hero began to understand this, but knowing the reaction of a friend, he could talk to him one last time in advance, end the friendship and slam the door. Then, of course, there would be no plot. But, just think, the poor donkey. All the fuss could have been stopped at first, but it has grown to a large size. What started the conflict. From the fact that young people do not know how to endure, and patience and understanding for them is the same as having to stop and think. Gleason did so, but he did not calculate one detail.

In addition, the local law enforcement officer, who allows himself a lot, also muddies the water. Gary Lydon is similar to his descendant, the billeter from Bruges, who did not like Gleason. Both assume too much authority. From which they suffer. What we have, we do not keep, and having lost, we cry.

By the way, Carter Burwell’s musical theme perfectly blended into the film. Especially touching during funerals and sometimes flashing throughout the film.

Cameraman Ben Davis shows the famous expanses of Ireland (albeit in the location of one island), close-ups of the characters, an expression of feelings on the face. At the end, we will see what a wonderful view the camera directs from above.

Impressions: I would like to mention two things that the director went for. The first (I hope this is not the case) – the death of the animal was real or it was a doll that strongly resembled an animal. At least at the end of the film (at the beginning of the credits) they would have written that ‘not a single animal was injured’. And, secondly, the pub, which was built for filming, became the cherry of the whole film. McDonnell defied the authorities, but still rebuilt it. And demolished. How at one time Besson demolished the house of the screen Arthur in reality.

In general, the film is a testament to the generation that wants to live not in vain, but to approach their future and present with a sense. And without leaving the business started halfway.

I would not like to dedicate the screen to Jenny. I don’t know if it really happened. Therefore:

Dedicated to John Gregory
