The Croods 2: A New Age (2020)

Long awaited sequel for me!!! It wasn’t clear why it took so long for the DreamWorks studio bosses to decide on a second part. After all, the first movie is very cool! Or is it just me? Oh well, I waited and…

Disappointed? No, that’s what I expected. The film industry has a tight grip on the “degraders of society.” Don’t ask me who they are. I’ll tell you this, really good movies or cartoons are very, very rarely made these days. Once a year, if you’re lucky, a picture is made, or even more rarely. Think back to the Oscars, when they were not yet influenced by the aggrieved and the oppressed. There were three or even four really good films in each category for Best Picture. Now what? “12 Years a Slave,” “Moonlight,” “The Shape of Water,” “The Green Book,” “Parasites.” Yes, some of the list aren’t bad, but they got their reward at the expense of the “degraders of society” with their twisted morals.

So what does “The Croods 2” have to do with it? It does! – The cartoon is from the same series, when you need to emphasize, and greasier, what’s most important in the world right now.

Of course, you can abstract away from that and look at the cartoon from a different angle, but there’s trouble, too. The picture failed to hold the bar high. Up to the middle the cartoon looks brisk, even manages to surpass the first film in some places in terms of jokes, but after the middle they start to introduce a villainous storyline which was not shown in the trailer, and everything goes wrong. A very positive impression was ruined by changing the storyline into something that was completely unnecessary.
